Hi everyone! Mellisa here with our first ever Guest Spotlight at DDW!! This month we have Laura of simply.scraps and Bella Gyspy guesting with us. Today, however I’d like to share Laura’s products with you and host a little challenge and chances to win a coupon for participating to simply.scraps’ shoppe here at DDW.

Before we get to the challenge, I’d like to share a little bit about Laura and show off the adorable items she has in her DDW shoppe.

Bio: I’m a young mom to two crazy boys, Rickey Jay (6) and Aidan (2.5). I live in Illinois with my DF, my crazy kids, a handsome kitty and two froggies!
What would be your dream job? This is it! I’d love to be able to support my family on my design income. Slowly but surely is what I keep telling myself.
Describe your style: I would describe my usual style as bold and funky. I love color, and really enjoy playing with different color schemes and quirky themes. I’m also known for my ‘punny’ choice in kit names.
Where do you currently sell your designs? I sell at Gotta Pixel, Sunshine Studio Scraps and Elemental Scraps.
Who are your favorite designers? My all time fave designer would have to be Lauren Grier! A close second would be Dani Mogstad. I’ve been so lucky to get to know some of my fellow designers that I’m also huge fans of. I love the funky and fun designs of Spinky Dink Scraps, Connie Prince, Amy Sumrall and Jenn Barrette. To my surprise, the fabulous Miss Michelle Batton asked me to be on her creative team, and I really enjoy challenging myself in scrapping with more realistic and whimsical designs!
1 random and preferably funny fact about yourself: Oh man. Should I let you guys in on my freakishness? Anyone that knows me personally knows that I love puns, using weird voices and acting silly for my kids. My 2.5 year old started saying ‘gyoo-me-burpy’ after he burps…so now whenever I happen to….erm…burp…I catch myself saying the same. *Ahem* Even when I’m alone. Hehe.
List 5 of your favorite things: 1. Family 2. Music (country doesn’t count ) 3. Graphic Design/Scrapping 4. Coffee 5. Puns and plays on words
List 5 of your least favorite things: 1. Dirty dishes 2. Dirty laundry 3. Getting dressed to go places LOL 4. The sound of other people brushing their teeth 5. Driving long distances

This week, Laura debuted ‘School Girl Crush’. “This theme was suggested to me by a friend of mine, Wendy. She wanted a ’school girl crush’ kit with hearts, stars and notebook edges. As I started wondering around my house looking for just the right elements, it hit me. I ran with it, and the finished product is just what I had envisioned while scouring for bits and pieces….my high school days! This kit is the most ‘me’…from the funky colors to the glitter….all the way down to the key chain. I hope you enjoy this as much as I have!”

Ok, so now that you made it to the end, how about a little challenge?! Your challenge is to create a LO based one word and two colors.

You have two choices for color groups:

Brown and Pink
-OR-
Black and Purple

Your word: Smile

You can create a lo based on what you think of when you think of the word smile. Maybe it’s your children’s smiles, things that make you smile, anything relating to smiling and what it means to you!
Here’s what I came up with:

While you don’t have to, if you create the LO using any product (doesn’t have to be something from simply.scraps DDW shoppe) you will receive an extra $3.00 coupon to use for any purchase from and designer in the DDW shoppe. If you don’t use a product by simply.scraps, you will still receive a coupon from simply.scraps for use in her DDW shoppe!
